The ABV Race

Alright here we go. Our first Hop Topic where you the listener gets to participate.

http://beernews.org/2010/05/schorschbrau-regains-lead-with-43-abv-beer-tv-report-stirs-up-controversy/

So this week Schorschbräu announced the world's strongest beer the 43% Vol. Which in case you couldn't guess is a 43% abv beer. This is in direct response to the BrewDog Sink the Bismarck! announced last year which had an ABV of 41%.

What are your thoughts on this race and high ABV beers in general. Post you comments below or email to hoptopic@beercoasterspodcast.com or better yet call and leave a voicemail @ 972.914.8502

It's a pissing contest!

I must congratulate them for setting and then accomplishing them, but I feel the most important feature of a beer is its flavor...alcohol is just a pleasant byproduct.

Totally pissing contest.....I don't drink beer because of it's high alcohol content. In fact, I like that its relatively low.. so I can enjoy a few of them......

Academically this is interesting... but practically... I tihnk it's useless

I am interested in tasting the utopias... just to try it.. but I'm not expecting to like it,.

For the most part... beer has never had a bunch of alcohol...I don't think this a trend that is has any sticking power.
